Montserrat Tour Departs — Barcelona Nord
Meet at Barcelona Nord Station. The Viator tour takes us up by cogwheel train — an improbable rack railway climbing through increasingly dramatic terrain as the jagged peaks of Montserrat rise ahead. The mountain looks like nothing else in Spain.

Santa Maria de Montserrat Monastery
A Benedictine monastery carved into the cliffside at 725 meters. Home to the Black Madonna — La Moreneta — a revered 12th-century wooden statue that pilgrims have climbed these mountains to see for over 900 years. The basilica, the monks' plain chant echoing through stone corridors, the air. This is not a tourist attraction. It's a living religious community that happens to be one of the most extraordinary places in Europe.

Oller del Mas Winery — Tastings & Tapas Lunch
Down from the mountain to a working winery in the valley. Oller del Mas has been producing wine for centuries on this same land. A proper tasting — Picapoll, Merlot, Cabernet blends from the Pla de Bages DO — paired with tapas under a terrace vine. This is what wine is supposed to feel like.

Back in Barcelona
Return to the city sun-warmed and wine-softened. Drop bags at the hotel, change shoes. Tonight is gentle — the sea.
Barceloneta Waterfront Stroll
Decompress by the Mediterranean on a warm May evening. Grab a cold beer or clara (beer and lemon) from a beach kiosk and just walk along the shore. Barcelona looks completely different from the waterfront. No agenda. Just this.

Dinner at Chiringuito Escribà
A classic Barcelona beach restaurant right on the Ronda del Litoral — fideuà, grilled fish, local white wine, and the sound of waves. Beachfront seafood at its best. Fideuà is the Catalan cousin of paella: short noodles toasted in sofrito and seafood stock, finished in the oven. Order it.

Pack for Seville
Early morning tomorrow — Vueling VY2224 departs at 10am from El Prat Terminal 1. This is our last night in Barcelona. We'll be back for one more night at the end of the trip, but this feels like a goodbye for now.
